Modified classification for products containing borate and boric acid since 2010
Even though borate-containing, mildly alkaline cleaners have been successfully established on the market for many years, they have been subject to a changed classification since 2010. If the borate content exceeds 8.5 % (or 5.5 % boric acid), they must be labelled as toxic to reproduction (GHS08, H360FD). Depending on the storage situation in the company, this may result in a quantity limit or the need to set up a special storage area. Changes in the risk assessment and occupational safety measures in the company are also necessary.
